ETC provides inbound program opportunities for high school students worldwide to study in American high schools and live with American families. Our outbound program offers students the chance to study and live abroad. We are dedicated to providing exceptional support for both students and host families through a network of local coordinators and dedicated staff.

Earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Award by hosting a foreign exchange student—up to 25 hours per week. This experience is valuable for college applications and resumes.

We work with the U.S. Department of State to find homes for foreign exchange students arriving in the USA on a J-1 visa. We host students from 15 countries, aged 14-18, seeking an American family experience.

What does being a host family entail?

• Providing a safe, nurturing home environment
• Offering a private room (shared with a similarly aged sibling is possible) and bed
• Providing three meals daily
• Transporting students to school and activities
• Offering love and support
• Families with or without children are welcome

What are the students like?

• Bring their own spending money and health insurance
• Speak good English
• Are thoroughly screened
• Are excited to meet their American family
