NiSHA on Nantucket is seeking a compassionate, organized Volunteer & Foster Programs Manager to lead and expand our animal care volunteer and foster initiatives. You will recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and retain volunteers, oversee dog walking, cat socialization, enrichment, and foster care, and help grow a robust program as we prepare for the new Rescue & Resource Center.

This full-time role requires strong shelter experience and excellent interpersonal skills, with a passion for animal

Qualifications

• Experience in animal sheltering or rescue operations.
• Strong interpersonal and volunteer management skills.
• Ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and fosters.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.

Responsabilités

• Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention of volunteers.
• Oversee foster care program and volunteer-assisted tasks (dog walking, cat socialization, enrichment).
• Coordinate volunteers to support shelter animals and NiSHA's relocation efforts.
• Expand and improve the volunteer program to engage the community.

Job Description

Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals (NiSHA) is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and highly organized Volunteer & Foster Programs Manager to lead and expand our animal care volunteer and foster programs.

This position plays a vital role in connecting people, both adults and kids, with meaningful opportunities to support animals in need. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in animal sheltering or rescue, a strong understanding of animal care and behavior, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

The Volunteer & Foster Programs Manager will oversee the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention of volunteers who support NiSHA's shelter animals and foster care program. This includes volunteers assisting with dog walking, cat socialization, animal enrichment, behavior support, foster care, and other animal welfare activities.

As NiSHA prepares to move into its new Animal Rescue & Resource Center, this individual will help develop a dynamic, well-organized volunteer program that enhances animal welfare, strengthens community participation, and creates a positive and rewarding experience for volunteers.

This is a full time job.
