Job summary

NC State University Extension-New Hanover County Center seeks an Extension Program Assistant/Associate to recruit, coordinate, and recognize volunteers across multiple programs and events, including the Arboretum grounds. The role emphasizes outreach, engagement, and coordinating large-scale Extension activities in a dynamic community setting.

You will work Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours weekly, with opportunities to contribute to public programs, master gardeners, and community education

Qualifications

Volunteer coordination or event management experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent; advanced training preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate volunteers and recruit for Extension programs and events.
Schedule Arboretum grounds events and coordinate on-site activities.
Manage volunteer staffing, shifts, and logistics for community events.
Provide weekend on-site support and customer service.
Develop and implement volunteer recognition initiatives.
