Job summary

NC State University’s Cooperative Extension Henderson County is seeking an Extension Program Assistant-Agriculture. This full-time, 0.9375 FTE position supports office, field, and classroom activities across agricultural programs in Henderson County, NC.

The role emphasizes collaboration with horticulture, fruit, and livestock initiatives, data collection and reporting, and event planning to engage local communities and growers. Some weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent required; advanced training preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
• Strong communication, teamwork and confidentiality skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist extension staff in office, field and classroom activities.
• Support tree fruit, vegetable, small fruit, ornamental and livestock programs.
• Organize and maintain data from on-farm trials and prepare reports.
• Research information using libraries and online resources for programs.
• Help prepare events such as workshops, field days and meetings.
• Participate in Master Gardener Program and related community projects.
• Coordinate with Master Pomology and Extension Apple varieties programs.
