Job summary

Reports to: Director of Workforce Development

Position Description

This full-time, benefited position plays a key role in supporting the Workforce Development program (including Car Care and Kitchen Programs). Working collaboratively in a team environment, the individual in this role manages a broad range of administrative functions and volunteer coordination responsibilities to ensure effective volunteer engagement and program delivery. In addition to overseeing day-to-day volunteer operations, this position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage the broader community, foster partnerships, and promote the goals of the Workforce Development program. This includes strengthening existing collaborations and proactively reaching out to parishes throughout the diocese. This position is primarily scheduled during daytime hours, with some evening and weekend commitments required. Holidays are excluded.

The Workforce Development program empowers clients to achieve financial independence and thriving households by offering on-site job training, job readiness education, and career guidance that foster upward economic mobility.

Ministerial
  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, maintain professional and personal conduct that aligns with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Be willing to learn and apply Catholic teaching in this role
  • Help foster a shared culture of ministry across program operations and management
Leadership
  • Takes ownership of the Workforce Development program’s vision by actively aligning daily responsibilities with long-term goals and CCEOK values
  • Continually evaluates the evolving needs of the Workforce Development program and offers thoughtful recommendations for improvement

  • Actively engages in team discussions and planning efforts to ensure program strategies are informed with real-world insight
  • Recruits, engages, and retains volunteers for Car Care, Kitchen, and Workforce Development programs to maintain standard volunteer numbers and provide supplemental coverage
  • Create/build a volunteer structure to support the needs of the workforce programs
  • Facilitates volunteer onboarding and placement within the Workforce Development program
  • Manages and prioritizes communications—including phone calls, emails, messages, and mail—from internal and external contacts related to Workforce Development volunteering
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for Workforce volunteers, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of program operations, staff, schedules, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains the volunteer calendar and updates the Volgistics (volunteer database) to ensure accurate tracking of volunteer hours
  • Regularly communicates with volunteers to foster a sense of appreciation and integration within the team
  • Assists the program manager in coordinating volunteer orientations, trainings, and appreciation events
  • Collaborates with the Volunteer Engagement office to align and coordinate volunteer efforts
  • Supports ongoing growth in the volunteer operations of the organization
  • In partnership with the department manager, maintains and builds relationships with local organizations and Catholic parishes to establish new sites for program offerings
  • Becomes the point of contact for volunteers at the new program sites, regularly communicating and providing support for volunteers
Community Engagement
  • Represents the Workforce Development team as needed in all volunteer-related functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned to advance the success of students, staff, and the program
Qualifications/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Experience in volunteer management, education, human resources, professional recruitment or training a plus
  • Interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and presentation skills; Must be comfortable with public speaking and giving constructive feedback to volunteers
  • Must be proficient in using computer systems and software
  • Self-motivated, pride in quality of work, ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner
  • Ability to use independent judgement in making decisions within guidelines of the organization.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs., bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time

Minimum requirements:
18 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent
