Job summary

Bristol Hospice is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to lead our hospice volunteer program in Salt Lake City. You will recruit, train, and support volunteers who provide comfort and companionship to patients and families, shaping meaningful experiences and program growth.

In this role you will partner with the hospice team, manage schedules, track statistics, and contribute to quality improvement efforts. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with community outreach responsibilities.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience in human services preferred.
• Two years of experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Hospice or volunteer experience is desirable.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Must understand hospice philosophy and manage a team of volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from multiple sessions annually.
• Establish need for volunteer services with patients and families.
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely manner.
• Maintain monthly statistics and personnel files.
• Coordinate volunteer program meetings and participate in interdisciplinary groups.
• Provide information to community groups about hospice volunteer services.
• Participate in program budgeting and quality improvement activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / An Average Day

• Must maintain volunteer training and orientation program(s) for single or multiple sites


• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year


• Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team


• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner


• Maintain monthly statistics and current personnel files


• Revaluate volunteer program, as necessary


• Coordinate support/education meetings


• Attend interdisciplinary group meetings


• Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services


• Participation as needed in the budget preparation for program development


• Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities


• Accept and perform other related duties and responsibilities


• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• College degree or equivalent experience in human services preferred


• Must have two (2) years of experience in a health care setting


• Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred


• Must demonstrate the ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services


• Must understand hospice philosophy


• Must possess the ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs


• Must possess the ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees


• Must be flexible in work hours


• Hybrid – Must be able to work remote and come into the office


• Occasional travel may be required


• Must demonstrate the willingness to maintain a comprehensive working
