Job summary

Literacy Delaware is seeking dedicated volunteers to support literacy programs in Delaware and the Philadelphia area. The role includes recruiting volunteers, reviewing applications, coordinating background checks, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to advance program impact.

Volunteer involvement encompasses orientation, training, and recognition activities, plus distributing curricular materials and supporting community partnerships in the Delaware/Philadelphia region.

Responsibilities

• Support volunteer recruitment efforts and attend in person recruitment events when available
• Review volunteer applications, track and complete reference and background checks; ensure compliance
• Support volunteer engagement, retention, and recognition activities
• Distribute curriculum materials via library mail system
• Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, community organizations, and other stakeholders
• Support orientation, training, and professional development opportunities for volunteers
• Other duties as assigned

Job description

Believing that literacy is the great equalizer, Literacy Delaware advances literacy through training, tutoring, English language acquisition, and advocacy for all Delawareans. For nearly 40 years, Literacy Delaware has trained volunteers to tutor adults with low literacy or English language skills.

Member Duties
