What You'll Do:
Recruit and source volunteers for district programs, events, and various volunteer needs.
Work with and maintain relationships with schools, community partners and general public for volunteer opportunities
Collaborate with Marketing team to ensure a comprehensive outreach program
Seek and submit grant opportunities for volunteer projects
Maintain volunteer paperwork, website and required compliance tasks
Develop and implement volunteer recognition program
Track and report volunteer hours and statistics
Train volunteers on required safety and program relations policies


What We're Looking For:
Enthusiastic and positive volunteer professional who enjoys working as a team.
Previous experience managing volunteers and a volunteer program
Positive person focused philosophy
Strong organizational, analytical, program solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong customer service and leadership skills.
Familiarity with Palatine community is a plus

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation, Human Resources, Non-Profit management, Public Administration or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and training.
  • Two or more years of experience in Volunteer Management, Parks & Recreation, Human Resources, Non-profit management or equivalent experience.
  • Strong part-time/volunteer supervision skills.
  • Attain (within six (6) months of employment) and maintain valid Adult & Child CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid Class “D” driver's license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • The ability to pass a background check within the Illinois Park District code requirements and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Strong customer service and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate, collaborate, lead and encourage individuals towards a common goal or effort.
  • Ability and aptitude to align volunteer interest and skills to needs of the District.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, program solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with various computer software, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, various HRIS software, PlanSource, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with internal and external customers.
