Job summary

Affinity Hospice Care in Hayward, CA is seeking a Volunteer/Bereavement Coordinator to manage the hospice volunteer program and bereavement services for patients' families and caregivers for up to one year following a patient’s death. You will recruit, train, orient, supervise, and evaluate volunteers, coordinate grief support and community referrals, and help with program development and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Public Health, or related field preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work compassionately with patients, families, volunteers, and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to maintain confidential records and manage multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, orient, supervise, and evaluate hospice volunteers.
• Assess patient and family needs for volunteer services and bereavement support.
• Coordinate grief counseling, support groups, follow-up services, and community referrals.
• Educate community members about hospice volunteer and bereavement services.
• Assist with program budgeting and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
