Hey actors! Want to work with LA's best creatives? (Hint: it’s our students). Bring our students' screenplays to life in an upcoming Big Show! Young Storytellers is looking for volunteer performers to dedicate a couple of hours to perform at an upcoming 'Big Show,' an in-school assembly where volunteer actors bring students' stories to life on stage in front of their classmates and the school community. No memorization or rehearsal is required. Just show up, meet our students, and bring their stories to life with the script in hand. Raise voices, have fun!
Young Storytellers is a non-profit program that raises student voices by teaching them how to write unique stories and transform them into screenplays. At the end of the program, each school partner hosts a 'Big Show,' where volunteer actors perform students’ stories and bring them to life on stage.
Young Storytellers sparks creative self-discovery through storytelling. Our programs highlight young people as the center of their narratives, emphasize that their stories matter, and celebrate their voices as the storytellers. We aim for a future where young people see the impact of their words and thoughts on the world. We raise voices, one story at a time.
In elementary school, Young Storytellers uses storytelling to help young people explore creativity and imagination. In middle school, we focus on goals and challenges. In high school, we explore the impact their voice can have in their community and beyond.
