Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a GS-06 level coordinator to support the Veterans Health Administration's volunteer services.

Candidates will manage calendars, greet visitors, and document donations and volunteer hours, while coordinating events to enhance patient care and community engagement.   • Enter and track donations in a centralized database with accuracy.
  • Record and report volunteer hours and assignments for reporting.
  • Plan and coordinate volunteer events and activities to support operations.

Job description

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has adopted the Center for Development and Civic Engagement / Voluntary Service Modernization Initiative which is a new model of organizing and consolidating essential voluntary functions and services to the Medical Center. This streamlined and focused approach moves VHA forward in its continuum of providing comprehensive, compassionate, and coordinated care to Veterans.

To qualify for this position,

applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-06 grade level:

One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Veterans' Preference:

Since the Direct-Hire Recruitment Authority is being used, traditional Veterans' Preference rules do not apply.

Qualifying specialized experience includes

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
