Job summary

Fort Huachuca Accommodation District is seeking a Coach for Colonel Smith Middle School to mentor student-athletes, teach game fundamentals, and foster sportsmanship. The coach will monitor academic performance and communicate with parents as needed, while modeling professional conduct and upholding district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year coaching experience.
  • Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance required.
  • Maintain access requirements for Fort Huachuca.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches players individually or in groups on rules, sportsmanship, equipment and fundamental skills.
  • Observes players during competition and practice to identify improvement needs.
  • Holds meetings for team prospects and encourages participation.
  • Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
  • Develops practice schedules for individual and team development.
  • Works with athletic director to schedule facilities for practices and games.
  • Coordinates with assistants and assigns duties as needed.
  • Ensures player behavior and safety standards are followed.
  • Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
