Volleyball Assistant Coach - Liberty High School
The role of Assistant Coach is to assist with the design and implementation of an activities program from 8th grade through varsity level in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; to supervise student athletes during all aspects of the program; to use sound instructional techniques; to serve as a positive role model; and to act as a liaison for the school and program with other schools, the community, and various organizations. Individuals in this classification are assigned to a position for a specific sport.
This position reports to the Head Coach for the particular sport.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
SKILLS required: adapting to changing priorities; administering first aid; applying laws and regulations; coordinating activities; organizing and communicating information; overseeing financial transactions.
KNOWLEDGE required: basic math (fractions, percents, ratios); reading and composing technical documents; facilitating group discussions; understanding public relations protocols; knowledge of equipment and safety practices; familiarity with participant eligibility, attendance, and discipline guidelines.
ABILITY required: scheduling activities, meetings, and events; gathering and collating data; operating job‑related equipment; working with diverse individuals; problem‑solving; providing leadership, discipline, and team building; traveling for off‑campus competitions; traveling during extended hours.
Work under limited supervision following standardized practices; direct other persons within a department or across units; track budget expenditures; utilize resources from other units as needed.
Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity. Job requires approximately 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing. Exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness may occur.
Experience: Job‑related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalency: Associate’s Degree preferred.
Missouri State Teaching Certificate or completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course.
Sports First Aid Training; CPR/AED Training.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
