Job summary

Plano ISD is seeking an experienced VoIP/UC engineer to design, implement, administer, and support the district’s voice and unified communications environment. You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and End-User support teams to maintain system availability and enterprise-wide communications initiatives.

The role requires five years of enterprise VoIP/UC experience, strong Cisco Webex Cloud Calling expertise, and a background in networking and security best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• CCNA/CCNP certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support Cisco Webex Cloud Calling services, including user provisioning, licensing, features, and integrations.
• Maintain and support SIP trunking services, ensuring reliability and continuity.
• Configure voice gateways, dial plans, call routing, and number normalization.
• Design and support unified communications, conferencing solutions, and PSTN connectivity.
• Apply security best practices for voice/UC systems; manage encryption and access controls.
• Monitor call quality and system performance to ensure good user experience.
• Integrate voice/UC with LAN/WAN/WLAN, QoS, and security architectures.
• Troubleshoot VoIP issues (SIP signaling, RTP, codecs, NAT, firewall traversal).
• Coordinate with vendors/service providers on carrier and cloud issues.
• Participate in upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle refreshes.
