Job summary

Menchey School of Music in Westminster, MD seeks a passionate vocal instructor to join our thriving private-lesson program. You will teach private voice to students of varied ages, build engaging lessons, and help prepare recitals in a music-centered community.

Requirements include 2+ years of college-level music training, 5+ years teaching or performance experience, and the ability to pass background checks. Weeknights 4:00 PM–8:00 PM or a recurring 4-hour Saturday block required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of college-level music training and 5 years teaching or professional performance experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates currently working toward a degree are encouraged to apply.
• Experience working with learners of varied ages and skill levels.
• Background checks required initially and every three years.

Responsibilities

The Menchey School of Music, part of Menchey Music Service, is home to a thriving private lesson program that serves students throughout the region. As the area’s largest family-owned music retailer, we’re proud to offer high-quality music instruction in a welcoming, organized, and supportive studio environment.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic and dependable vocal instructor to join our team at our Westminster studio. This is a great opportunity for a teacher who enjoys building strong student relationships, creating engaging lessons, and being part of a music-centered community that truly values education.

Availability Needed

One weeknight from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM or one recurring 4-hour block on Saturdays.

What You’ll Do

• Teach engaging, personalized, and effective private lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels
• Create a positive, encouraging, and educational lesson environment
• Help students grow musically, prepare for recitals, and inspire participation in performance opportunities
• Communicate timely and professionally with students, parents, and staff
• Keep accurate attendance and lesson records using our digital scheduling system

Requirements

Qualifications:

• A strong musical background demonstrated by at least 2 years of college-level music training, 5 years of teaching or professional performance experience, or an equivalent combination
• A bachelor’s degree in music education, performance, or a related field is preferred; candidates currently working toward a degree are also encouraged to apply
• Experience working with a variety of learners of all ages and skill levels is preferred
• Ability to successfully complete an initial background check, as well as recurring background checks every three years as a condition of employment
