Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Voice Systems Engineer to design, install, maintain, and own RF and voice systems at our data center facilities. You will collaborate with engineering teams spanning data centers, rockets, spacecraft, launch sites, and an Emmy-winning webcast team.

Responsibilities include RF site layout, channel planning, and verifying coverage; configuring LMR radios; and supporting field deployments and system acceptance with customers. ITAR requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 2+ years LMR engineering, or 5+ years without degree.
• Experience designing or supporting land mobile radio systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation for operations and maintenance.

VOICE SYSTEMSENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experience designing or supporting land mobile radio systems, including site layout, channel andtalkgroupplanning, and capacity.
• Working knowledge of RF coverage principles, including site placement, ERP, antennas, and field or drive-test validation.
• Hands-on experience configuring and programming LMR infrastructure and subscriber radios (repeaters, consoles, portables, and mobiles), including codeplugs and firmware.
• Ability to troubleshoot RF, IP backhaul, and system-level faults and document findings for operations and maintenance.
• Experience supporting installation, testing, cutover, or acceptance of radio systems in the field or with customer teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, electrical engineering, or other STEM discipline and 2+ years professional land mobile radio systems engineering experience OR 5+ years professional land mobile radio systems engineering experience without a degree.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Direct experience with Motorola Solutionsor other DMRplatforms, especiallyMOTOTRBO and/orASTRO P25.
• Familiarity with alternatives to conventional DMR, including cellular push-to-talk and mobile-based PTT applications and interoperability with LMR systems.
• Use of RF prediction or coverage tools and proven results meeting in-building or on-street reliability targets.
• Experience with encryption, interoperability, and public-safety feature sets.
• Familiarity with FCC licensing concepts, IP backhaul for LMR, and customer training or system acceptance.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in tight quarters and physical dexterity is necessary to preform job functions.
• Availability for extended hours and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required.
• Availability for occasional travel, as required (<25%).
• Position is subject to pre-employment and (as applicable) periodic background, drug, and alcohol testing.
