Job Summary

As a Unified Communications Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining communication systems that integrate voice, video, and messaging services. The role requires knowledge of security and network infrastructure to optimize and troubleshoot issues - ensuring a seamless user experience and monitoring the overall system's performance. You’ll work with your team and various departments to identify and solve daily issues. The role requires proficiency in configuring UC solutions, deployment updates, systems maintenance, troubleshooting, VoIP, and security protocols. You are energized by tackling complex technical problems and passionate about delivering superior communication experiences.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  1. Design and implement unified communication systems that integrate messaging, voice, video, and collaboration tools for organizations.
  2. Support VoIP telephony principles within a converged voice/data network environment, including Video Collaboration tools (MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom) and Video Telepresence infrastructure (Microsoft, Cisco, Conference Room Systems).
  3. Implement and maintain Cisco Unified Communications solutions, including Cisco Call Manager, Unity, and Contact Center.
  4. Configure and manage voice gateways, SIP trunks, and related network components.
  5. Maintain and upgrade virtual and physical servers.
  6. Perform regular maintenance and upgrades for optimal performance and security.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice-related issues promptly.
  8. Collaborate with network engineers and IT staff to integrate voice systems with other network components.
  9. Provide technical support and training to end-users and IT staff.
  10. Document configurations, processes, and procedures.
  11. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Cisco voice technologies.
  12. Maintain and troubleshoot unified communication infrastructure including servers, gateways, routers, switches, and devices.
  13. Ensure systems meet performance, availability, and security requirements through monitoring and tuning.
  14. Assist in configuration and maintenance of Cisco IP communication applications: Unified Communications Manager, VCS, VCS Expressway, TMS, WebEx, and Video endpoints.
  15. Work with vendors, service providers, and partners to understand requirements and align solutions with organizational goals.
  16. Evaluate solutions based on cost, performance, security, scalability, and usability; recommend improvements or replacements.
  17. Act as an escalation point for voice and video issues.
  18. Maintain and upgrade voice, video, and collaboration tools and infrastructure following established procedures.

Job Specification:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
  2. Generally requires 3-5+ years of IT experience in unified communication, collaboration, and video telepresence environments.

What You'll Need:

  1. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  2. Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
  3. Knowledge of telephony infrastructure including MS Teams, Cisco, and others.
  4. Understanding of network protocols, VoIP, SIP, and related technologies.
  5. Proficiency in Python or Java programming.
  6. Experience with video, content sharing, and collaboration tools (WebEx, MS Teams).
  7. Experience with voice and video infrastructure tools & components (Cisco, Microsoft, Avaya, etc.).
  8. Proficient in network troubleshooting, QoS, policies, and licensing.
  9. Ability to handle a dynamic workload with minimal supervision.
  10. Relevant certifications such as CCVP, CCIE Voice, or TCE are a plus.
