Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers’ COVE School in Plymouth, MA is seeking a Vocational Teacher Assistant-Math and Sciences for students in grades 7–12 with educational, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Under supervision, you’ll assist teachers, maintain routines, and monitor progress, contributing to a supportive learning environment and family communications within the school setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 credits in education or human service field (preferred).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to respond positively and appropriately to direction and feedback.
• TCI Training required.

Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative assistance to students requiring social and/or behavioral support.
• Assist teachers to maintain clear and consistent classroom behavior standards.
• Monitor learning progress and maintain student performance records.
• Establish and model positive relationships with students.
• Support in-school communication with families and educational teams.
• Provide coverage when teachers are absent or sick.
• Participate in data collection and progress reporting of student growth under supervision.
• Contribute to meetings with a problem-solving mindset and timely paperwork.

Job description

The Home for Little Wanderers' COVE School in Plymouth, MA, is seeking a Vocational Teacher Assistant-Math and Sciences. The COVE School serves students grades 7 to 12 who have educational, emotional, and behavioral challenges that cannot be adequately addressed in a traditional public school environment. Individualized education plans (IEPs) vary depending on the specific needs and strengths of each student.

How You Will Be Making A Difference

Classroom Competency

• The COVE School Teacher Assistants (TA) provide rehabilitative assistance for students who require social and/or behavioral support during the school day.
• Assist COVE School teachers as they create an environment where standards for classroom behavior are clear and consistent.
• Assist COVE School teachers to provide consistent routines for managing all parts of students’ independent and group work and to monitor learning progress closely and maintain records of students’ performance.
• Establish and model appropriate working relationships with COVE School students.
• Assist COVE School teachers and administrators to manage student behavior within school and classroom structures.
• Under the supervision of a Special Education Coordinator, participate in data collection and progress reports of student growth.
• Support in-school communication with students’ families and educational teams.
• Provide individual classroom coverage when a teacher is sick or absent.
• Actively engage in supervision and demonstrate openness and action to feedback.
• Complete paperwork consistently, professionally, and in a timely manner
• Attend regular meetings with a problem-solving mindset and actively contribute during meeting time
• Support and help members of the COVE School staff in implementing supports for student emotional, academic, and behavioral growth.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of TCI Training required.
• Preferred driving record that allows for the transportation of students in school transportation
