Job summary

The Lighthouse for the Blind in New Orleans seeks a Workforce Development Specialist I to support the Pathways to Success project. You will provide vocational rehabilitation services, develop job opportunities, and coach participants across southeast Louisiana. Strong communication, presentation, and time-management skills are essential.

You will work with teens and adults, deliver Pre-ETS, and collaborate with employers to create meaningful placements. Travel regionally is required; apply today.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree required in education, social services, vocational rehabilitation or related field.
• CESP credential required or willingness to attain within one year of hire.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to present professionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop partnerships with businesses and employment stakeholders to expand job opportunities for people with disabilities.
• Help participants develop pre-employment skills: resumes, applications, interview skills, dress and hygiene.
• Collaborate with Lighthouse team to implement vocational rehab components of funded projects and create work-based learning experiences.
• Deliver direct services including evaluations, IPEs, job development, coaching and ongoing job support.
• Manage a robust caseload of participants and meet performance benchmarks for placements.
• Work with employers to create job opportunities aligned with client goals and abilities.
• Engage in outreach activities, attend job fairs, and recruit potential employers.
• Document all activities in Salesforce and state forms with clear, concise notes.
• Administer Pre-ETS to teens in line with program goals and state requirements.
• Stay current with training and tools to improve outcomes for participants and programs.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development Manager to enhance training for rehabilitation professionals and promote inclusion.
