Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Vocational Instructor to deliver vocational and occupational instruction in an institutional setting. The role focuses on subjects like business, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing and related trades to help students acquire practical skills.

The instructor will plan courses, document study programs, use diverse teaching materials, and report progress. A valid state certification and 3 years of trade experience are required; a driver’s license is also necessary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must be eligible for Georgia PSC, NCCER or comparable certification in subject areas.
• Three years of vocational trade or career readiness experience, or three years as a certified instructor.
• Credentials must be maintained; ongoing eligibility required.
• Ability to give clear trade instructions.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and requirements.
• Plan and document a program of study for individual student needs.
• Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisuals and other materials; evaluate performance and issue progress reports.
