Qualifications

About the Position

The Vocational Electives Specialist-Peer Support Group Facilitator supports the development and delivery of elective curriculum and workplace readiness programming in collaboration with Vocational Supervisors and the Vocational Director. Serving as both a facilitator and role model, this position draws on personal recovery and work experience to guide members—offering peer support, advocacy, and case management. The role focuses on helping members in both outpatient and inpatient settings build vocational skills and prepare for sustainable, full-time employment after graduation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs, develops, and facilitates vocational electives and workplace readiness curriculum through dynamic group sessions.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to launch and continuously improve electives and skill-building programs tailored to member needs.
  • Assists with enrollment coordination, scheduling, and documentation to ensure members are placed in appropriate electives aligned with their vocational goals.
  • Partners with external employers to support member job placement and expand elective program opportunities.
  • Provides coaching and case management support focused on recovery, self-sufficiency, and employment preparation.
  • Guides members in setting recovery goals and creating individualized plans in collaboration with Transitional Services and clinical teams.
  • Facilitates skill-building through group and one-on-one sessions that focus on combating negative self-talk, developing social confidence, and overcoming job-related anxiety.
  • Curates and shares motivational resources to help members identify strengths and maintain a hopeful outlook in their re-entry journey.
  • Observes and documents member behavior and mood changes, escalating concerns to mental health professionals as needed.
  • Assists with daily living support and community engagement to enhance re-entry outcomes.
  • Maintains a safe environment by de-escalating situations, securing documentation, and following safety protocols.
  • Provides support during in-house programming and supervised trips, including transportation of members as required.
  • Participates in clinical supervision and meets BHPP/BHT requirements, including continuing education.
  • Maintains performance standards in alignment with outlined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • In addition, all other duties as assigned.

Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, demonstrating versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within a fast-paced environment. Computer skills – KIPU, MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) High school diploma or GED required Peer Support Specialist certification is required Valid AZ driver’s license may be required Successful clearance of annual MVR may be required Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing Successful clearance of annual TB PPD testing

Licenses & Certifications

Required: CPI Certification CPR/FA Certification PST Certification

Preferred: BHT Certification
