Job summary

Recovery Innovations in Wilmington is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to provide recovery training and advocacy for individuals receiving services, helping to build a supportive environment and empower people on their journey. This part-time, non-exempt role requires completing Peer Employment Training to obtain certification.

Lived experience with mental health or substance use is valued, with shifts 8:00am–8:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Peer Employment Training Certification required.
• Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
• Basic computer skills and ability to teach recovery information and tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to maintain HIPAA compliance.

$18.00 Without DE Peer Certification

$21.00 With DE Peer Certification

Summary of Job: The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. The Peer Support Specialist I also assists in implementing/creating a recovery environment and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Guest Care & Advocacy:
  • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
  • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
  • Models hope, personal responsibility and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained.
  • Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
  • Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
• Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
• Cross Functional Collaboration:
  • Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
• Additional Duties:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Education/Licenses:

• Driving Requirements:
  • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
  • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
• Travel required based on business need.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

Physical Demands:

May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.

Warmline over-the-phone Peer Support Specialist will work in a remotely and not be in an office or behavioral health facility.
