Job summary

Harbor is hiring a Vocational Specialist to assess clients aged 14+ and coordinate linkages between employers and clients at the Ohio Means Jobs site in Lucas County. The role is full-time (40 hours/week) and focuses on psychosocial and vocational assessment, ISP development, and ongoing employment support.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field (or associate’s with relevant experience), plus required certifications and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or closely related behavioral/mental field from an accredited college or university, plus 1 year vocational rehabilitation experience; or an Associates’ degree plus 3 years vocational rehabilitation experience; or 5 years’ experience in vocational rehabilitation services.
• Preference for Ohio licensure (LSW or LPC) and experience in vocational rehabilitation with the targeted client population.
• Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
• CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Develops and updates an ISP for each client reflecting seven areas of need: Health Care, Housing, Financial, Social Support, Leisure, Vocational, and Crisis Prevention.
• Maintains accurate documentation including progress notes and required forms.
• Types documentation in Harbor’s approved format and ensures billable services meet unit expectations.
• Assess client readiness for employment and support progress toward recovery goals.
• Assist clients in identifying interests, skills, and inform on benefits and entitlements.
• Provide ongoing employment opportunities and coaching to help clients gain and retain work.
