Job summary

MonDay Community Correctional Institute seeks a Career Development Coordinator to facilitate employment and vocational programs, including resident employment, community service, and integrated job training. You will build community relationships and maintain monthly reports on hours and outcomes.

Responsibilities include developing job training, coordinating orientations, assessing residents, supervising volunteers, and supporting transportation and administrative tasks to ensure quality care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 4 years employment/vocational training experience.
  • Associates Degree in Behavioral Science, Human Resources or related field with two (2) years experience in employment/vocational training preferred.
  • Ability to submit CDCA application within 90 days of appointment and obtain CDCA within 6 months of appointment.
  • Must have valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate employment readiness classes and orientation to residents.
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal job training programs.
  • Assist with vocational assessments for residents to determine placement.
  • Maintain list of employment sites and contacts.
  • Assist residents with identification and documents for vocational programming.
  • Coordinate community service orientation and oversee community service sites.
  • Assist with volunteers' application, screening, and orientation processes.
  • Refer residents to community resources and transition programs.
  • Assist Clinicians/Primary Therapists in treatment and aftercare planning.
  • Handle administrative tasks and incident reporting as needed.

Job description

Under general supervision of the Career Development Coordinator, is responsible for facilitation of the employment and vocational programs that include resident employment, community service, integrated job training programs, vocational activities, and volunteer services through fostering relationships within the community. Maintains monthly reports on employment and community service hours.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employment
·Assist in developing, implementing and maintenance with internal job training programs.
·Facilitates Employment Readiness classes.
·Facilitates Employment orientation to residents.
·Assist in the facilitation of job training and vocational activities.
·Assist with vocational assessments for the residents to determine placement for employment.
·Maintains a list of Employment sites and contacts as provided by Supervisor.
·Assists residents with obtaining proper identification and documents for vocational programming.

Community Service
·Inform residents about the rules and expectations for community service outside of the facility.
·Maintain list of community service sites and contacts as provided by supervisor.
·Facilitates Community Service orientation to residents.
·Communicates with Operations as it relates to community service and employment to assure comprehensive quality care for the residents.

Volunteer Services
·Assist with ensuring all Volunteers have completed the appropriate application and pre-screening process in coordination with Human Resources and the Career Development Coordinator.
·Facilitates Volunteer orientation, to include PREA.
·Assist with maintaining the active Volunteer database.

Community Support
·Refer residents to community resources and transition programs for employment and vocational services.
·Assist Clinicians/Primary Therapists in treatment and aftercare planning.

Operations
·Handle disciplining of residents, enforce procedures for handling of residents and ensure proper documentation is completed.
·Assist in monitoring residents, ordering supplies, preparing incident reports, and other operational duties as needed.
·Assist with the writing of and follow through on any investigations involving residents in the work release or community service programs.
·Assist with transportation, as needed.

Administrative
·Participate in staff/team meetings.
·Participate and performs in public relations within the community.
·Participate in collection, preparation, and submission of monthly statistics for annual report.
·Conduct assessments and maintain relevant documentationMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED with 4 years experience in employment/vocational training and a current Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) required.
·Associates Degree in Behavioral Science, Human Resources or related field with two (2) years experience in employment/vocational training preferred and ability to submit Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) application within ninety (90) days of appointment to position and obtain within six (6) months of appointment to position.
·Ability to read and prepare routine reports and statistical information (i.e., punctuation, grammar, spelling).
·Working knowledge of interpersonal communication skills requiring courtesy and tact necessary to communicate effectively with staff, clients, social service, and criminal justice agencies, as well as the general public.
·Knowledge of and ability to conduct vocational assessments.
·Knowledge of and ability to implement problem-solving principles. Knowledge of issues related to employment and job development.
·Familiarity with standard software packages (i.e., SMART boards, Microsoft Word, Excel) and ability to use a computer for efficient completion of routine tasks and responsibilities.
·Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required.
