Nucor's Vulcraft division seeks a Design Engineer to design steel floor and roof systems, ensuring they meet diverse loading and environmental requirements. The role involves guiding detailers and production teams, and collaborating with designers and customers to deliver robust, innovative solutions.

Candidates should hold a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and pursue FE licensure with intent to obtain a PE. This salaried position includes ROA bonus and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Design steel structures and products while enhancing capabilities, processes, and teammate development.

• Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external design professionals and customers.
• Become an engineering expert of Vulcraft's products and assist specifiers and industry partners.

Basic Job Functions:

Design Engineers at Vulcraft specialize in the design and application of floor and roof systems comprised of open web steel joists and steel deck. Your responsibilities will be to ensure that these products meet the design requirements for a wide range of structures with varying loading and environmental conditions. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Design of steel structures and products while continuing to enhance capabilities, products, processes, and teammate development
• Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project development, design, and fabrication
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external design professionals and customers
• Become an engineering expert of Vulcraft's products and assist specifiers and industry partners

This position is a salaried position plus ROA bonus. Occasional travel is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited program
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a PE license

Preferred Qualifications:

• PE license and/or SE license
• MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Leadership experience or desire to take on leadership roles and/or positions
• Willing to pursue higher leadership opportunities throughout Nucor
