Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead VMware‑to‑AWS migrations and build scalable AWS environments. The role requires assessing on‑prem VMware infrastructure, planning migration waves, and delivering post‑migration stabilization.

You will automate deployment with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI, coordinating with infrastructure, application, database, and security teams to ensure smooth transitions and governance adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading or executing VMware‑to‑AWS migration projects.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter, clusters, networking, storage, and dependencies.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of VMware VMs to AWS.
• Develop migration runbooks, rollback procedures, validation plans, and operational checklists.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, network, and security teams to coordinate activities.
• Perform migration cutovers and post-migration tasks with minimal business disruption.
