Job summary

Tekgence Inc. is seeking a Vmware Engineer to design and manage VDI infrastructure in a fully on-site role in Schenectady, NY. Responsibilities include creating VDI master images, deploying VMware ESX/ Horizon environments, and performing migrations and upgrades.

The position focuses on incident management via ServiceNow, patching, storage configuration (NFS/ISILON), and ensuring rollout standards are followed. Long-term contract with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in VDI infrastructure development and management.
• Experience creating VDI master images and administering VDIs.
• Familiarity with VMware product suite and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Create VDI master images and provide VDI administration in domain/sub-domain.
• Perform VMware virtualization using ESX, Horizon, vCenter, and related tools.
• Roll out VDI per defined standards and practices.
• Manage patches, upgrades, and security configurations.
• Handle incidents via ServiceNow; track to closure and liaise with governance.

Job Title: Vmware Engineer

Location: Schenectady, NY 12345 (100% On-site only)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Technical/Functional Skills:

• Software installation procedures on VDI
• Provision VDIs on Amazon Workspace
• Awareness of containerization technology
• NFS and ISOLON storage class

Experience Required: 3+

VDI Infrastructure Development & Management

Create new VDI Master images and provide VDI administration in the domain and sub domain pertaining to VDI clients. This will include the following:

Create Virtualization using VMWare, VMWare product suite (ESX, Horizon, Vcenter, Cloud Volume, vGPU’s, etc.)

Perform VMware virtualization that includes ESX, Server migrations, DRS, HA, vMotion, Horizon, vCenter and vROPs.

Perform VDI rollout within defined standards and practices

Software installation on VM’s and its Management

Vmware Migration and upgrades

Work and track the activity to closure for all incidents that are received via ServiceNow tool. Address, complete and track the activities to closure for the items assigned in Rally following the rules set by the governance team leader. This will include the below VDI Administration activities

Patches and bug fixes

Install Service Packs and Security configurations

Resolve job failures and data defects

Group Policy – Enforce Policy in the User Machines

Storage Management – Manage Data Storage

Monitoring and alerting for job failures

Install client applications on VDI (Project specific Software tools, Java, Anaconda, kubectl, containerd, visual studio, .NET tools etc.,)

Create or map storage exports for NFS and ISILO

Support server repairs/replacements with vendors/suppliers
