Job summary

SimSpace, based in the Greater Boston area, seeks an Infrastructure / Data Center Operations Engineer to ensure reliability of VMware-based and data-center infrastructure. This hands-on role covers virtualization, physical ops, monitoring, Linux admin, and network tasks.

Qualifications

5+ years of VMware-based infrastructure experience.
Experience operating in a 99.999% uptime environment with strong operational discipline.
Hands-on Layer 1 data center experience with rack-and-stack, cabling, and hardware replacement.
Strong technical documentation skills using Visio, IP management, and rack layouts.
Working knowledge of Linux for deployment and remote support.
Basic networking knowledge with Cisco/Dell switches.
Located in Greater Boston and able to participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Operate VMware-based infrastructure and manage vCenter environments.
Perform Layer 1 data center tasks: rack-and-stack, cable management, hardware replacement.
Maintain 99.999% uptime and respond to incidents.
Monitor system health and plan capacity for reliability.
Create and maintain infrastructure documentation (Visio, IP records, rack layouts).
Perform basic Linux deployment and remote support.
Configure and troubleshoot Cisco/Dell switches and connectivity.
Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support.
