Job summary

M9 Solutions in Washington, DC is seeking a VM Senior Systems Engineer to support a federal government contract onsite. An active Public Trust clearance is required.

The role focuses on uptime, performance, and capacity planning, with SME responsibility in Kubernetes, VMware, and network security. You will collaborate across Enterprise Operations, Cybersecurity, and cloud teams to deliver dependable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• Active Public Trust clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (+5 years) in CS/Engineering/IT.
• In-depth knowledge of Dell Blade switches and firewall management.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and Aria Operations.
• Experience with IaC using Ansible.

Responsibilities

• Review events and refine automation to improve uptime and performance.
• Serve as SME on Kubernetes, server hosting, virtual networking, security, and scripting.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Operations, Cybersecurity, networking, cloud teams, and partners.
• Identify and report vulnerability/risk in House Virtual Server and Container hosting.
• Assist in developing quality control checks for uptime and operations.
• Help develop operational metrics for uptime and performance.
• Maintain knowledge of network switching and firewall management.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate sessions with staff and vendors.

VM Senior Systems Engineer

M9 Solutions is seeking a VM Senior Systems Engineer to work onsite in support of a government contract for a client located in Washington, DC. An active Public Trust clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Review existing operational events and propose refinements, automation, and/or broaden handling capabilities as appropriate, with a focus on service uptime and performance.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) on two or more of the following: Kubernetes, Server Hosting, Virtual Networking, Network and Application Security, Scripting/Programming.
• Interact with other stakeholders in the House community for troubleshooting/solution development/etc. This interaction could include other members of Enterprise Operations, Cybersecurity, the networking team, cloud team, technology support partners, etc.
• Identify and report on current vulnerability/risk state of House Virtual Server and Container hosting architecture.
• Assist in the development and performance of quality control checks for service uptime and operations.
• Assist in the development and performance of operational metrics for service uptime and operations.
• In-depth knowledge of network switching and firewall management.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and, when necessary, coordinate working sessions with technical staff and supportive vendors/resellers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required.
• An active Public Trust level clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (+5 years) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or similar relevant degrees.
• In-depth knowledge of network switching in Dell Blade systems and Firewall Management for Virtual Infrastructures.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• Experience with VMware Aria Operations suite.
• Experience architecting fault-tolerant systems with multi-region redundancy and well-defined failover strategies.
• Experience with threat modeling, data encryption, and identity management (RBAC/MFA).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Ansible.
• In-depth knowledge of VMware Aria Operations Suite version 9.
• Experience working with at least 3 of the following technologies: VMware (by Broadcom) Products (examples: vCenter, vSphere, Other).
• Monica (formerly VMware) Products (examples: Workspace One, Horizon VDI, Other).
• Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and/or Linux-based Server Operating Systems.
• Dell and/or HPE Blade/Rack Server Hardware.
• Kubernetes Container Infrastructure (examples: Tanzu, OpenShift, Docker, others).
• Preferred: Dell and/or Cisco Chassis Network and Storage Switch configuration.
