Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC is seeking a full-time Field Technician to support multiple positions within the crew, focusing on safety, inspection, cleaning, preparation, and rehabilitation of water and sewer structures. You will work with a crew to deliver trenchless infrastructure services on-site across diverse environments.

The role requires physical labor, ability to lift over 50 lbs, and willingness to travel/out of town for projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in a physical labor position and/or outdoor construction preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and out of town.
• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift over 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company with professionalism and integrity and meet/exceed customer expectations while maintaining safety and quality.
• Work effectively with supervisors and crew members.
• Load materials and equipment into vehicles for transport to the job site.
• Set up traffic control, safety equipment, and installation gear at the site.
• Assist in measuring, marking, and preparing materials for installation.
• Assist equipment operators to complete the work.
• Enter below-ground utility structures.
• Keep the site and trailer clean and organized.
• Perform related duties and comply with safety procedures.

Vortex Lining Systems provides a large diameter pipe lining system that utilizes a state-of-the-art geopolymer mortar. Our VLS rehabilitation team lead the industry in experience, job-site safety and installation quality.

The role of the technician is to learn multiple positions within the crew and assist team members with safety, inspection, cleaning/preparation, repairs, and rehabilitation of structures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Must represent the company with professionalism and integrity.Assure customer expectations are met or exceeded in a manner that maximizes profitability without compromising safety or quality standards.
• Work effectively with supervisors and all members of the crew
• Load materials and equipment into vehicles for transportation to and from the job site.
• Set up traffic control, safety equipment, and installation equipment at the job site.
• Assist in measuring, marking, and preparing materials for installation.
• Assist equipment operators so that they can effectively complete the work.
• Enter below ground utility structures.
• Ensure the site is left clean before the crew leaves.
• Clean vehicles, equipment and keep the site/support trailer organized and clean.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Comply with all government and corporate safety procedures.

Skills and Specifications

• Shotcrete/Gunite experience
• Concrete finishing
• Capable of following instructions and learning via On-Job training.
• Ability to operate a variety of simple and complex tools.

Education And Qualifications

• Experience working in a physical labor position and/or outdoor construction preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and out of town.
• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift over 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, D.O.T. physical and driver’s license check for past 36 months without any suspensions or major traffic violations (D.O.T. requirements).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: this is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday and includes shift work, weekends, evenings, holidays - Flexibility is required as job duties demand.
