Job summary

Trinity University’s D. R. Semmes School of Science seeks a Vivarium Technician to maintain the animal care facility and provide high-quality husbandry services for research animals.

The role requires self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include daily animal care across species, maintaining logs, sanitizing rooms and equipment, and supporting facility operations.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in animal care, lab husbandry, or related research support.
• Ability to learn and follow animal care, safety, sanitation, and facility procedures.
• Strong time management and organization, with reliable task execution.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily husbandry for multiple laboratory animal species, including health checks and feeding.
• Maintain complete daily room logs and monitor consumable expiration dates.
• Operate cage-wash and sanitation equipment and prepare materials for washing.
• Stock and maintain husbandry and facility supplies; report low inventory or malfunctions.
• Comply with IACUC protocols, SOPs, and safety requirements; attend required training.
