Job summary

ADA Forsyth Institute invites applications for an Animal Care Technician III & Vivarium Administrative Support role. The position emphasizes hands-on animal care, vivarium operations, and support for investigators with occasional administrative duties.

The successful candidate will work with animal care leadership, researchers, and facilities staff to maintain a safe, compliant research environment and accurate records. Training will be provided for institutional processes and SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
• Basic computer proficiency with data entry and spreadsheets.
• Ability to lift, transport, and move animal cages and equipment.
• Willingness to provide weekend/holiday coverage as needed.
• Experience with vivarium operations or laboratory support is a plus (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform daily animal husbandry duties, including feeding, water checks, cage changing, and health monitoring.
• Monitor environmental conditions in holding rooms and report discrepancies.
• Operate cage washers, autoclaves, sterilizers, and other equipment.
• Assist with euthanasia and tissue collection procedures as trained.
• Maintain clean and organized animal rooms and records.
• Support mouse colony management, breeding cages, and weaning pups.
