Job summary

NAMSA seeks an Animal Care Technician to support welfare and husbandry of animals in the vivarium, ensure sanitation of equipment, and assist with daily feeding and enrichment. The role includes documentation of observations, housing preparation, and weight checks, under SOPs and veterinary direction.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; ALAT certification is preferred and Associate's or Bachelor's in an animal-related field is desirable for advancement.

Qualifications

• Prior animal handling experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with Outlook preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• ALAT certification preferred; further advancement possibilities with related degrees.

Responsibilities

• Follows NAMSA Quality Manual and SOPs.
• Grooms and maintains welfare and husbandry of animals; sanitation of equipment and vivarium.
• Operates cleaning equipment (pressure hoses, cage washers).
• Administers daily and enrichment feeding per SOP or prescribed amounts.
• Interacts with animals daily; participates in enrichment activities.
• Performs animal receipt, housing preparation, and weighing; may microchip/tail-mark.
• Maintains daily documentation of feed, sanitation, observations, and room conditions.
• Weights animals as scheduled or per study protocol.
