Qualifications

• Master's degree in viticulture or related field is required at appointment.
• Experience in applied research and extension is required.
• Knowledge of crop production including soil, water, fertility, and pest management is required.
• Ability to work with diverse clientele and collaborate with county staff and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel and obtain required certifications such as QAC within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support viticulture practices, pest and water management, and adoption of new technologies for wine grape production.
• Provide extension education through consultations, workshops, field demos, and on-site visits to grape growers and other producers.
• Collaborate with growers, industry, and crop consultants to advance industry competitiveness and grape quality.
• Travel across San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and southern Sacramento Counties as needed and work on-site at the San Joaquin County location.
