Job summary

The Tampa Museum of Art is seeking a Vitality Arts Program Coordinator to oversee lifelong learning and creative aging programs for the 55+ community in the Tampa Bay area. In collaboration with the Head of Community and Studio Arts Programs and external vendors, you will help renovate the PNC Family Classroom and Gallery.

You will coordinate classes, schedule teaching artists, lead community discussions, manage projects and grants, and work with Marketing to highlight initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Education, Art, Public Health, Gerontology, or related field.
  • Experience working with adults 55+ with varying abilities.
  • Experience developing and executing community arts and engagement programs.
  • Project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Studio 55 studio art programs including scheduling teaching artists.
  • Work with Studio Programs Manager to develop schedule of classes.
  • Instruct classes as needed.
  • Pilot and refine the Salon 55 community discussion program.
  • Handle administrative work for Vitality Arts Programs.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to highlight Vitality Arts initiatives.
  • Execute programs and classes within approved Vitality Arts budget.
  • Conduct surveys and evaluations of program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Grant Writer to apply for and report on related grants.
  • Lead focus groups and community listening sessions related to PNC renovation and new programs.
  • Oversee project management for PNC renovation.
  • Attend docent trainings and exhibition walkthroughs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the Studio 55 studio art programs including:

  • Working with Studio Programs Manager to develop schedule of classes
  • Instructing classes as needed.

  • Administrative work related to Vitality Arts Programs
  • Works with Marketing division to highlight Vitality Arts programs and initiatives.
  • Executes programs and classes within approved Vitality Arts programs budget
  • Conducts surveys, observations, and more to evaluate the effectiveness of programs
  • Works with the Grant Writer and Foundation Relations Specialist to apply for, execute, and report on related program grants, both new and existing.
  • Leads focus groups and community listening sessions related to the PNC renovation project and new Vitality Arts Programs.
  • Project management related to the PNC renovation project.
  • Attend Docent training, exhibition walk-throughs, etc., to become familiar with current exhibitions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Passion for the mission of the Tampa Museum of Art.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel frequently.
  • Understanding of best practices within lifelong learning, creative aging, and/or gerontological pedagogy.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, as well as familiarity with collaborative applications, including Airtable, Microsoft Teams, Canva, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Integrate intentional and inclusive engagement best practices into program development and execution.
  • Must have familiarity with current museum teaching trends.
  • Strong sense of collaboration and teamwork.
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Education, Art, Public Health, Gerontology, or other related field OR 4 years’ program management or teaching experience.
  • Must have experience working with adults 55+ with varying abilities.
  • Experience with developing and executing successful community arts and engagement programs.
  • Experience managing focus groups and community listening sessions.
  • Experience teaching and/or a working understanding of multiple art media.
  • Project management experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have a valid Florida Class “E” Driver’s License or equivalent issued by another state by the date of application.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid work flexibility may be available.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for program-related activities.

  • This position is a full-time, hourly position, up to 40 hours weekly.
