Job summary

The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a part-time Merchandising and Buying Assistant (24 hrs/week) to support the Barnes Shop and Calder Gardens retail operations. You will handle visual merchandising, ordering, receiving, inventory tracking, and online sales, ensuring accurate packing lists and invoices.

You’ll grow online sales by crafting product listings, coordinating photos, writing compelling copy, and maintaining Shopify listings across multiple sites while collaborating

Qualifications

• High School diploma/equivalency or higher with retail or marketing experience.
• Retail experience preferred, including sales or inventory processing.
• Photo editing experience with Photoshop for resizing, cropping, and light touchups.
• Strong written English with excellent grammar and spelling.
• Familiar with content management systems and digital file organization.
• Proficient with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest).
• Experience with online marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, Etsy, Poshmark, or Depop is a plus.
• Must enjoy working with the public and provide professional service.

Responsibilities

• Support Barnes Shop merchandising and buying operations and inventory.
• Reconcile packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices with merchandise records.
• Monitor online inventory and adjust quantities weekly for online shops.
• Create themed product listings and collections for ecommerce platforms.
• Coordinate product photography and write copy for listings.
• Maintain Shopify product listings with proper tagging and alt text.
• Collaborate with Marketing to promote ecommerce sites and social content.
• Process and fulfill online orders across Shopify storefronts.
