Job summary

Doncasters in Groton, CT seeks a Visual Inspector Level II to independently perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components. You will verify surface conditions, read engineering drawings, and make accept/reject decisions per customer specs and aerospace standards.

The role requires VT Level II certification and proficiency with precision measuring tools, with training responsibilities for Level I personnel.

Qualifications

• Certification to Visual Inspection (VT) Level II per NAS-410, SNT-TC-1A, or equivalent aerospace standard.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Strong knowledge of visual inspection principles, standards and defect interpretation.
• Proficient with hand gauges, calipers, micrometers and other precision tools.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components.
• Evaluate surface condition and perform dimensional verification using precision tools.
• Interpret indications and make accept/reject decisions per customer specs and aerospace standards.
• Ensure NADCAP, ASTM and customer-specific requirements are met; train Level I personnel.

The Role

The Visual Inspector Level II is responsible for independently performing detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components. This includes surface condition evaluation, dimensional verification using hand gauges and precision tools, interpretation of indications, and making accept/reject decisions in accordance with customer specifications, aerospace standards, and internal procedures. The Level II inspector ensures compliance with NADCAP, ASTM, and customer-specific requirements, while providing training and guidance to Level I personnel.
