Job summary

Doncasters in Groton, CT is seeking a Visual Inspector Level II to independently perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components. The role requires reading drawings, applying precision tools, and making accept/reject decisions per customer specs and aerospace standards.

You will train Level I personnel, ensure NADCAP/ASTM compliance, and contribute to maintaining the highest quality in aerospace manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of visual inspection principles, standards, and defect interpretation.
• Proficient in the use of hand gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping.
• Basic understanding of the visual inspection (VT) process.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components.
• Evaluate surface condition and verify dimensions with hand gauges and precision tools.
• Interpret indications and make accept/reject decisions per specs and NADCAP/ASTM.

The Role

The Visual Inspector Level II is responsible for independently performing detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace castings and components. This includes surface condition evaluation, dimensional verification using hand gauges and precision tools, interpretation of indications, and making accept/reject decisions in accordance with customer specifications, aerospace standards, and internal procedures. The Level II inspector ensures compliance with NADCAP, ASTM, and customer-specific requirements, while providing training and guidance to Level I personnel.

Certification to Visual Inspection (VT) Level II in accordance with NAS-410, SNT-TC-1A, or equivalent aerospace standard.
