Job summary

Lilly, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, invites qualified candidates for the Visual Inspection Scientist role to support the manufacturing of gene therapy products at a cutting-edge facility in Lebanon, Indiana. The TS/MS team provides technical leadership, defect classification, and process monitoring to ensure compliant, high-quality production.

You will train staff and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably pharma.
• Must pass a vision exam and have normal color vision.
• Must be able to perform near-vision tasks (20/20).
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the visual inspection program and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, QA, and Engineering across site functions.
• Support inspection personnel and equipment qualification and defect classification.
• Maintain inspection tools, materials, test kits, and defect libraries.
• Monitor performance, track quality metrics, and address process variability.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, deviation investigations, change controls, and reports.
• Train and mentor operators and inspectors on inspection techniques and defect classification.
