Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) seeks a Visual Impairment Teacher to join our team in a supportive school environment in Cordele, GA. You will develop and implement IEPs for students with visual impairments, collaborate with families and staff, and design engaging, accessible lessons.

Qualified candidates hold a Georgia Special Education certificate and a VI Endorsement, and are committed to helping children succeed.

Qualifications

• Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education (Level 4+)
• Special Education Visual Impairment Endorsement (GaPSC)

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student in your care.
• Communicate with staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval.
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school.
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness.
• Invite family members to participate in each student's educational progress.
• Create and distribute progress reports quarterly.
• Confer with on-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students.
• Create a safe, productive classroom environment.
