Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Western Massachusetts is seeking a highly qualified Visual Art educator for grades 5–12, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with licensure (Master's preferred within 5 years); you will plan studies, maintain records, assess students, and collaborate with staff to meet district goals.

Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Massachusetts Visual Art license for grades 5-12.
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate license preferred within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students.
• Guides the learning process toward district goals and communicates clear objectives.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation as required.
• Maintains records as required by law and district policy.
• Assesses student progress and communicates with parents as needed.

Education

Massachusetts license Visual Art 5-12

Bachelor’s Degree with licensure

Master’s Degree with license preferred (within 5 years)
