Job summary

Haven Charter High School in the Bronx is seeking an Art Teacher to design and deliver rigorous visual arts instruction that develops creativity, technical skills, and self-expression for students in grades 9-12.

As a full-time member of the instructional team, you will co-teach in Humanities classes, develop standards-aligned curricula, assess progress, and showcase student artwork through gallery exhibitions and school events.

Qualifications

• Experience working with adolescents in grades 9-12; two years of teaching experience preferred.
• NYS 7-12 certification or in process preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree with teaching experience; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned visual arts instruction developing students' skills, creativity, and self-expression.
• Develop and refine visual arts curriculum, units, projects, and assessments.
• Introduce diverse techniques, media, cultures, and forms of visual communication.
• Create an organized, inclusive, and engaging art classroom environment.
• Collaborate with Special Education and Humanities teams to support students.
• Assess student progress and provide timely, actionable feedback.
• Display and celebrate student artwork through exhibitions and events.
• Incorporate technology to enhance engagement and outcomes.
