Job summary

Sewanee is seeking an hourly, term-position staff member to support the Visual Art Building sculpture, drawing, and painting studios and assist studio art faculty.

The role provides direct supervision with clear instructions and regular review of completed work by the supervisor. Responsibilities include studio maintenance, exhibit installation, student safety demonstrations, student assistance with equipment, and supervising work-study students.

Qualifications

• Experience with woodworking and metalworking machinery and tools.
• Proficiency with computer modeling software or CAD tools.
• Ability to operate and demonstrate safety with studio equipment and processes.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow supervisor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain studios and equipment for sculpture, drawing, and painting.
• Install and deinstall exhibits for Carlos Gallery and events.
• Provide equipment and safety demonstrations for students.
• Assist students in using equipment and techniques.
• Guide work-study students and support studio faculty.
