Job summary

Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is seeking a Visitor Experience Assistant to greet guests, process admissions, memberships, and event registrations, and provide exceptional customer service at the Welcome Center. The role reports to the Visitor Experience Manager and supports garden operations and community events.

The position requires a high school diploma, prior customer service experience, basic computer skills, and the ability to work 15-25 hours per week with flexible hours, including holidays

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in customer service required.
• Able to communicate clearly and tactfully.
• Reliable and able to work independently.
• Basic computer knowledge; ability to learn Altru/POS.
• CPR certification and first aid training a plus.
• Clearances and background checks (Child Abuse Clearance; PA State Police Background Check; Fingerprint Background Check); PA driver’s license required.
• RAMP certification or ability to become certified.
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Must lift and carry up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Greeting visitors and guests at the Welcome Center and assisting with admissions, gift shop sales, memberships, classes, and events registrations.
• Answering and routing calls and emails as needed.
• Maintain Welcome Center cleanliness and function per the checklist.
• Stay informed on upcoming activities, fundraisers, and Garden development.
• Assist with inventory, printed material, merchandise, and supplies.
• Adhere to Garden customer service guidelines and cash handling policies.
• Ensure coverage of assigned station and effective communication with stakeholders and guests.
• Perform other duties to support Garden operations and community events.
