Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Outpatient coding experience is required, along with current industry experience in a healthcare setting.
• Current industry-related certifications (CCS).
• Faculty must have a minimum of five years of recent in-field outpatient coding experience.
• Experience with electronic health/medical records and IT systems within healthcare.
• Knowledge of health insurance, reimbursement, privacy and ethics.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a campus template, including terminal course objectives.
• Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises course materials.
• Uses online technologies and course-related software to prepare and make content accessible.
• Models effective oral and written communications to engage students and improve learning.
• Sets clear course expectations with published objectives, dates, and evaluation weightings.
• Ensures exam content aligns with course objectives and provides timely feedback on grading.
• Demonstrates responsible AI usage in the classroom and addresses AI use in student work.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
