Job Overview

The Department of Music at Lander University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Music Education, starting August 15, 2025. Salary and rank depend on qualifications and experience. The position may be renewed or converted into a permanent faculty line.

About Lander University

Accredited by NASM, offering bachelor’s degrees in Music and Music with K-12 certification, minors in Music and Music History, and various ensembles including choral, jazz, wind, chamber orchestra, and piano groups.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
  • K-12 teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in music education or related field; bachelor’s degree also acceptable
  • University teaching experience and mentoring record preferred
  • Ability to teach courses in specialization, including introductory courses
  • Ability to lead choral or jazz ensembles; jazz candidates should teach improvisation and jazz history

Doctorate preferred but not required.

Additional Expectations

Commitment to teaching excellence, collaborative effort in advising and departmental growth, effective work with diverse students. Teaching load is 36 hours per year, including possible applied lessons. Summer teaching opportunities available.
