Visiting Lecturer (Biomedical Sciences)

Eastern Kentucky University

Position Overview

Department of Biological Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a 9‑month Visiting Lecturer for Academic Year 2026‑2027. The position begins August 1 2026 at the Richmond Campus and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in a 5/5 annual teaching load, including Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introductory Cell and Molecular Biology, and Essentials of Biology, as assigned.
  • Maintain a full‑time teaching load and use effective and innovative teaching methods, including multiple evaluation and assessment procedures.
  • Develop and implement courses related to the lecturer’s curricular area.
  • Maintain an active research agenda and pursue original research in biomedical science.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the mission of Eastern Kentucky University and demonstrate respect for a diverse campus community.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned Ph.D. in Biology (anatomy and physiology) or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.
  • ABD applicants considered only if a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) is obtained by appointment.
  • Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Active and effective listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and students.
  • Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching biological concepts at the college or university level.
  • Evidence of active engagement in scientific research at the doctoral level.
  • Evidence of potential ability in academic assignment and/or professional contributions and activities.
