Lecturer in Physiology

Position Summary: The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia is expanding our teaching faculty to meet the needs of our growing educational programs. We seek an energetic and innovative educator to teach upper-level undergraduate students in our new Biomedical Physiology program. The position involves teaching up to three 3‑credit hour courses per academic term, developing new course materials, supervising teaching assistants, and may include opportunities to participate in undergraduate program administration and contribute to graduate and veterinary medicine teaching missions.

Responsibilities
  • Teach the equivalent of up to three 3‑credit hour courses per academic term.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills.
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience in physiology at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional level is required.
  • Candidates without a terminal degree must document exceptional accomplishments in a discipline related to the position and be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of teaching excellence using active learning methods in both small and large group settings.
  • Ability to teach multiple areas of physiology and physiology teaching laboratories; desirability to teach pathophysiology or pharmacology.
  • Preference for candidates with a doctoral degree if a master's is the minimum required.
Physical Demands

Extended periods of standing or sitting, vocal strain from talking, and moderate physical activity such as walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of materials.
