University of the Pacific, Benerd College, seeks part-time instructors to teach in person and/or online classes for Teacher Education Preparation Programs. Faculty are non-tenure-track, contracted for specific semesters, with rank contingent on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or working directly with students online.
• Demonstrated commitment to and teaching in diverse settings, as well as working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

• Teach the assigned course(s) as published in the Academic schedule and noted in the offer letter using effective teaching methods.
• Record attendance and refer students to support services as needed.
• Use CANVAS LMS to post syllabus, assignments, and communicate with students.
• Provide timely feedback on submitted student work and assessments.
• Meet with students during office hours for guidance and progress assessment.

Visiting Inst/Lect/Assist Professor Teacher Education

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:

The University of the Pacific, Benerd College seeks instructors toteach in person and/or online classes on a part-time basis tostudents in Teacher Education Preparation Programs. Our currentpart-time faculty are drawn from regional expertise in teaching andleadership and offer a wealth of practitioner-based expertise toour students.

Visiting Instructors/Lecturers are part-time, non-tenure-trackemployees, contracted via mutually-signed offer letters, to teachspecific classes during specific semesters (specific dates) asoutlined in the offer letter. Faculty rank and title are contingentupon the successful candidate's experience andqualifications.

All part-time faculty are expected to perform the following duties:

• Complete all employment documents and any required trainings,and submit employment documents such as signed offer letters in a timely manner.
• Prepare for your course, including obtaining the approvedsyllabus, and updating course schedule, teaching methods,assessments, assignments as appropriate and required.
• Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Adhere to all University and school policies.
• Teach the assigned course(s) as published in the Academicschedule and noted in the offer letter, using andragogical (adultlearning theory) and other teaching methods fairly andeffectively.
• Track student attendance using tools provided, and refer students to the Hive (Office of student support services) isrequired for attendance or performance issues.
• Required use of the University's LMS (Learning ManagementSystem) which is CANVAS, to post syllabus, assignments, reference materials, and to communicate with students.
• Read submitted student work and assessments/exams, and providewritten/oral/video comments to students in a timely manner toprovide feedback on performance.
• Meet with students during "office hours" to provideindividualized direction and assessment of progress, asneeded.
• In order to ensure the proper number of teaching hours iscompleted, work with Administration to schedule "make-up" classesfor any canceled classes.
• Grade all mid-term and final examinations/papers, and otherassessments as appropriate, and submit those grades per timelinesusing the My Pacific portal.
• Review student-completed course evaluations conducted online atthe end of each semester to analyze student perceptions of yourteaching and to provide insight into possible teachingimprovements.

• Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practicesand knowledge in their work.
