Job description


Widener University is currently seeking a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences starting in the 2025-26 academic year. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching duties will include introductory chemistry courses and laboratories for both science/engineering majors and for non-science majors, including general, organic, and biochemistry for nursing students, as well as upper-level chemistry courses.


Widener's Chemistry department is a proud signer of Beyond Benign's Green Chemistry Commitment and is invested in the teaching of green chemistry across our curriculum. Experience in green chemistry is beneficial.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):


Essential duties:



  • Teaching chemistry courses.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):


Required:



  • A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.

  • A doctoral degree in chemistry or equivalent experience in a chemistry-related discipline. ABD candidates will be considered but must successfully defend by August 15, 2025.


Preferred:



  • Experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses is preferred, especially in organic chemistry.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and create an inclusive learning environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and faculty.
